General David Copperfield links

David Copperfield @ David Perdue's Charles Dickens Page: The premier Dickens resource on the web, full with information on all the books including DC, a glossary, reviews, everything you could imagine! HIGHLY, highly recommended!

David Copperfield @ Gad's Hill Place: Really interesting Dickens site with behind-the-scenes info, like working titles and real-life inspiration on all books, including Davy. There are also links to quizzes and games, as well as a shop.

David Copperfield @ Charles Dickens's Themes: Nice analysis of the themes of David Copperfield and other works, plus a few colored illustrations. Beware the pro-vegan ads, though, they can get a little grisly!

Study guides and scholarly links

Sparknotes: David Copperfield: Really professional, basic look at the story, with some interesting theme analysis and symbolism discussion that you don't find on most other sites. Really fun to look at.

Barron's Booknotes: David Copperfield: I love this site. It's got some really insightful notes and analysis without going too far into the Freudian route, plus the general quizzes and very helpful chapter summaries + notes.

Barnes and Noble David Copperfield forums: Kind of the last place you'd expect to find a discussion board, but I was pleasantly surprised by the insight of the board members. They are obviously thoughtful, educated readers - and they're POLITE (unlike some other boards) and chatspeak free. Bonus!

Media-related Dickens links

Charles Dickens and Showbiz: A really, really cool site I randomly stumbled upon one day! There's all kinds of images from plays and media all the way back to Dickens' days. Amazing collection!

Masterpiece Theatre's David Copperfield page The new site from PBS, created for the 2009 showing of the BBC's latest DC adaptation. This has a few new interviews but overall has less content than the older site created during the reign of ExxonMobil, which I more highly recommend. :)

"Charles Dickens Reads from David Copperfield" animation I think this is amazing. Which makes me mightily suspect I am nerdier than I heve imagined.

David Copperfield 2000 review @ Old-Fashioned Charm a very nice review for the latest version of David Copperfield, starring Hugh Dancy. :)

Personal Dickensian websites

Dickensblog: Fun musings on the works and adaptations of Boz including - say it with me now - David Copperfield! I luuuuv this site and check it every day - Gina is a very dedicated and engaging webmiss!

All That Is Gold Not 100% Dickens or DC but a really nice site by Marian, another dedicated Dickensian!

Pro Se Again, not a total Dickens site but a wonderful literary blog by Christopher Harris.




One Hour to Read - David Copperfield: One blogger's attempt to read DC as it was originally published, three chapters a month! Nice commentary and great determination on the blogger's part, as it will take over a year to finish the story.

Charles Dickens quiz: Kind of a random webpage with a quiz set up like a game show. It's really pretty fun....unless of course you don't know the time Miss Havisham's clock is set to, in which case you may feel like chucking your computer out the window....

Survive Dickens' London game: Also known as the site that proves how lame I am. XD It's surprisingly fun to meet Uriah Heep, though, but I'm warning you - DON'T GIVE HIM YOUR SHILLING!

Reely's David Copperfield Shop Any site that sells t-shirts saying "what would Peggotty do?" gets linked. Seriously. This site also sells lots of other Dickens and literary-related items.

One Man Against the Night: Uriah Heep is a Creep. I guess this is the right place to put this link...it's kind of an odd one but I wanted to share this really humorous and glowing David Copperfield review, written by a blogger who is fond of Dickens and literature. I would also recommend his other reviews and the rest of his well-written blog. :)

Because I Saw the Film: Masterpiece Theatre is Not My Thing A film blog written by fellow DC-fan Marcy makes some really excellent points about the strengths and weaknesses of BBC's 1999 David Copperfield production.

Because I Saw the Film: My Dream David Copperfield Cast Just what it sounds like - Marcy compiles some of the actors she deems best for the roles of DC, and she comes up with a few surprising but great choices! A really fun read, and it makes you wish Hollywood would pay attention to her blog's suggestions. :)
